Dear Friends,
I express my appreciation for the continuous efforts built in by the members of the Bhaktapur Doctors Society
The year 2080 may bring happiness, success, and many opportunities to the whole world. Last year was all about experiencing a dramatic change in circumstances and outcomes for all of us. However, it gave us significant learning that change is the only constant and inspired us to adapt to change. With the current political, health crisis, and geopolitical scenario, Bhaktapur stands at a unique vantage point to emerge as a balancing force and preferred health destination for healthcare providers as well as takers.
Bhaktapur Doctors Society, a nonprofit organization formed by a group of doctors of different specialties from Bhaktapur District was officially established in January 2021 with the motive to unify all the doctors for good causes in society like disaster medical relief, medical education, and awareness.
In the very short time of establishment, Bhaktapur Doctors Society has conducted multiple activities for social causes. Even before its official establishment as a society, a group of doctors from Bhaktapur had been actively engaged in disaster relief programs during the devastating earthquake in 2015 in Nepal. This society conducted a “Talk program on COVID-19 Vaccine” on 30th Jan 2021 where the chief speaker was Dr. Sher Bahadur Pun and honored 5 senior doctors from Bhaktapur who served Bhaktapur District for decades. Then on May 29th, 2021, the society conducted a webinar on the COVID crisis in Nepal with mega success. The society was one of the collaborating partners among different social organizations for starting a free-of-cost 100-bed Isolation center at Nepal Engineering College at Changunarayan Municipality for COVID-19-positive cases.
The Society is the key partner member in starting a free-of-cost 20-bed Quarantine Center for COVID Care Workers. The society has started online consultations for home-isolated COVID cases published a list of phone numbers of different doctors for phone consultations and organized a one-day blood donation program during the blood scarcity pandemic period. In October 2022, the society organized the Dashain Fellowship Dinner “program and shared different opinions for uplifting better health of Bhaktapur District.
On 4th Feb 2023 the society in organized a “Basic Ortho Workshop” at Madhyapu Hospital. The society has contributed financial help of Rs. 75000 to Khwopa Hospital for the installation of an Oxygen plant and HDU setup and also contributed Rs. 50000 to Rabi Lamichhane Foundation for social causes.
I believe that innovation is the engine that powers the ongoing transformation of the global health system. Our dear members of society are focused on adopting the latest technology and solutions for the recent post-COVID health crisis with Connections, Confidence, Communication, Collaboration, and Collaboration. This Health magazine is one such opportunity for us to realize our creativity and imaginative powers.
I thankfully believe the authors of the articles in it must have taken advantage of this opportunity to cultivate the power of expression and also create further opportunities for more writers in the future in the next editions. I desire that this magazine is designed with a global outlook and literary ambitions, and offers the essential platform for healthcare providers to express their original articles, and protocols and provide science resources in the growing fields of the latest medical advances.
I am extremely grateful for all the trust in me and my board members of the society and I am sure to work hard and sincerely to maintain it as well. I look forward to fulfilling the mission and goals that we dreamed of while establishing this esteemed society. Thank you for your support, guidance, and encouragement. Wishing you all the very best!
